Kona and her puppies are going great. The puppies weighed 18-20 ounces at birth. They spent their first day sleeping and nursing.

The puppies are 1 day old in the following pictures.

Note: The color on the puppies is nail polish so we can tell them apart during the first few weeks. We keep track of their weight daily to make sure they are all eating and growing. When they're this young, it's hard to tell them apart.
Kona's puppies are now a week old. They are all healthy and growing fast. They spend their time sleeping and nursing. The cannot see or hear yet, so they rely on their developing sense of smell to crawl over to mom when they're hungry. They've gotten pretty good at crawling! With nine puppies, Kona has a lot of babies to keep track of and she does a wonderful job.

On Saturday, Kona's litter of German shepherd puppies reached the two-week mark. They are robust and thriving. This week, they opened their eyes, allowing them to perceive the world around them. Their ears are also beginning to open, indicating that they will soon be able to hear. Although it's difficult to gauge from the pictures, they are all very uniform in size. Currently, they weigh approximately 2.25 pounds. While they are starting to walk and explore, they still spend most of their time sleeping or nursing. Kona continues to be a fantastic mother, providing excellent care for her puppies.

At three weeks old, Kona's litter of puppies has reached an exciting milestone - their ears have opened, granting them the ability to hear sounds and engage with the world through all five senses. As is typical of our German shepherd litters, the puppies are uniformly sized and continue to grow at a healthy pace. They are beginning to play with each other, though they still spend much of their time sleeping.

At four weeks old, Kona's litter of puppies are active and lively, and are now running and playing with each other and with their toys. Though they still tire quickly and require frequent naps, their energy levels have noticeably increased each day. It's heartening to see them developing their coordination and strength as they explore their surroundings with curiosity and enthusiasm.

As Kona's puppies reach the five-week mark, their activity levels continue to increase with each passing day. They have playtime several times a day in-between their feedings, though they tend to tire after about 45 minutes and require a nap. It's worth noting that while none of the puppies had their ears up on Friday, by Sunday, several of them had them up. As they continue to grow, their ears may go up and down before eventually staying up.

Overall, the litter remains healthy and playful. During a recent visit from a friend and her one-year-old son, the puppies displayed gentle and curious behavior towards the young visitor. A couple of the pups even took to following him around as he crawled and played, highlighting their naturally friendly and sociable temperament.

At six weeks old, Kona's litter of puppies are becoming more active and adventurous by the day. Yesterday Taylor and her one-year-old son Brooks came over for another visit, and the puppies once again displayed their natural gentleness and restraint around small children. Though we didn't capture any photos on this occasion, it was clear to see how much they enjoyed Brooks' playful company.

As the puppies continue to grow, they are becoming increasingly confident by exploring their surroundings. While they climb on us for attention, they remain mindful and gentle around young children, a trait that is both impressive and heartening to witness. It's remarkable to observe how naturally attuned German Shepherd puppies are to their surroundings, even at such a young age.

At 8 weeks old, the puppies are now ready to join their new families. Some photos were taken before some of the puppies left, and others after. Orange and Yellow females and Green and Red males are still available. Our neighbors visited again with their one-year-old son, Brooks, and the puppies were as gentle as ever. We are proud to say that this litter has exceptional temperaments.

With the nice weather, the puppies get to play outside every day. We heard from the families of the puppies who are in their new homes, and they are all doing great. Many have other pets in the home and they are all getting along wonderfully. A couple of photos below are from their new homes. Orange and Yellow (females), Green and Red (males) are still available and love exploring the yard during outside playtime!
